The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one of the best known classical poems written in english, containing some very beautiful and very memorable lines. The poem was founded on a dream of Coleridge's friend CRUIKSHANK. As it is a ballad, ballad poetry usually includes archaic words and spellings, and this is the one characteristic that makes "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" challenging. In my view this particular ballad is a fine example of long conversation. And it is filled with different modes of nature and natural activities and of course, the mysticism is prevailed in the whole poem. It is also clearly reflected here that a human being is totally helpless in front of the power of Almighty God.
