Can you draw parallels between The Robbers and King Lear by Shakespeare - both in terms of the themes, characters and language?

I don't know much about The Robbers. Writing in 1781, Schiller was clearly besotted with Shakespeare in that he stole the Edmund-Edgar subplot from King Lear while spicing it up with a dash of Richard III and Hamlet. Check this out:
