The Scarlet Ibis: What conflict does the narrator have to overcome?

The main conflict the narrator needs to overcome is his own sense of pride. He is in conflict within himself..... he loves his brother and wants to see him progress, but his pride in "their" accomplishments only serves to make him push his brother harder..... beyond the limits.
