How are "they" to determine whether Pearl is of Christian nature?

Bellingham, Wilson, Chillingworth, and Dimmesdale, Hester and Pearl are all in a room together to decide Pearl's fate. You can imagine how much fun that would be! Pearl is being addressed as "demon child" and "a bird." Wilson attempts to find out if Pearl is Christian in nature by asking her questions from the Bible. It was kind of like Jeopardy except for illegitimate Puritan kids!
