Hester feels the scorn of the village.Still, when she leaves prison, there is a pride about her. She refuses to hide her letter with her baby Pearl. Hester takes her punishment wit humility though. She works in her little hut making clothes for the poor and the rich. As the story progresses,we get the sense that Pearl is Hester's gift to the world. She may have been ashamed of her sin but her child is a gift from God.
Chillingworth is just twisted. I don't think he is interested in Pearl rather than finding who she has sinned with. Chillingworth has his suspicions and pretty soon even Hester's infidelity becomes secondary to his twisted relationship with Dimmesdale.
Dimmesdale is afraid of pretty much everything. There is part of him that wants to be a man and confess his sin but he chooses to let Hester bear the burden himself. It isn't until the end of the novel that Dimmesdale takes responsibility for his sin and even, dare we say, is proud of it.
Hester does feel ashamed at what she did but she is hiding it the best that she can.
