The narrator of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" is the author. Thus, no I do not consider the narrator to be impartial. Orczy’s outlook on the Revolution in France was no doubt colored by the fact that she lived through an uprising on her parent's estates as a little girl. Throughout the novel, the narrator's tone is authoritative and superior, very fitting for an author who was an aristocrat.
