No, I think May had already decided which path she needed to take. May was full of pain, and with each day she carried more of the pain with her. Her own pain, the pain of others.... pain seemed to encompass her every moment and the wall just kept growing. In the end, the pain she carried and her feeling of inadequacy drove her to end her own life. Maybe professional help could have eased the burdens she carried, but we'll never know.
