The Secret Life of Bees
On page 41, Lily thinks to herself "Lily Melissa Owens, your jar is open."
What does she mean by that? Is it like her mouth is her jar and her mouth is open? Or did she catch a bee and it got out somehow?

The metaphor was that it was time for her to leave. She compares herself to bees she had trapped in a jar. If the jar was open, the bees would leave. Similarily she must leave home.
