what does secret life of bees make you think of?

It makes me think of a Black Virgin Mary. That is such a profound image, it totally casts a different light on traditional Judeo-Christian imagery. Really why not have a black Mary or a brown Mary or any other colour? The whole concept makes me think of the Old and New Testament.
