The Stranger
in part 2 chapter 2, what events take place that relate to the world today?
what does meursault do in the book that happens in every day life?
what does meursault do in the book that happens in every day life?
Perhaps the most striking event of Part 2, Chapter 2 is Meursault's resignation to the life of a prisoner. In giving up thinking like a free man, he creates meaning for his life by looking forward to walks. For Camus, this is not unlike what people do in modern life. Without a real defined purpose for their lives, they must relegate themselves to the role of petty existence. But once it becomes habit, it is not necessarily so gloomy.
