why does petruchio tell baptista that"where two raging fires meet together they do consume the thing that feeds their fury"(line 132-133)?

Petruchio is speaking about how he and Kate are opposites burning or consuming whatever kindled their romance. He goes on to say that he knows how to cool her down as well.
