I'm not sure what your personal lens is. The term is certainly offensive but it also gives soldiers a way to help process the Hell they are in. There has to be an otherness about their enemy for the American soldiers to stay sane. The term provides the conception of an enemy when, in reality, the United States Government are just as much to blame.
