What makes it hard for soldiers to adapt back to life without war?

War has taken a heavy toll on their psyche. The soldiers are still haunted by the violence and atrocities that the witnessed and performed. Their regimented life has concluded and they have lost their bearings in civilian society. Many Vietnam veterans were treated badly by American citizens who were against the war.
