why this is an anti-war story?

There is nothing glamorous about O’Brien’s story of war. There are no heroes or acts of valour that do not exact at least an existential price. Many of these boys were young nineteen-year old virgins with rifles. Nothing good comes of this war: only misery and loss of innocence.
