Why was the inventor reminded of his mountaineering experience
The TT slowly reverses the Time Machine until it stops. He observes the reddish landscape and the moss-like vegetation everywhere. There is no wind, and the water of the sea barely moves. The TT has difficulty breathing and believes the air is more rarefied than normal. Breathing so heavily reminds him of his mountaineering days.
