The Truman Show
Twice when Truman first hits the wall and then while Christof is talking to him, director Peter Weir films Truman with his back to the camera. Why do you think he does this?

I hate to second-guess Peter Weir's ideas. I really like his movies. Still, I think he probably wanted us to decipher Truman's emotions rather than just showing us. We never clearly understand how Truman might react to the truth of being in a fake world. It is more interesting for the viewer to interpret Truman's reaction rather than just see it.
