Wilona, the mother, was not born in Flint; she was born down south in Alabama and moved up to Michigan to be with her husband, Daniel. Naturally, she does not approve of the cold.
Daniel was born in Michigan, and he was used to the cold. He thought his wife's negativity was funny.
