Brian before and after the Wave.

Before the Wave, Brian was an intelligent young man, who failed to apply himself and used his energy for football rather than getting a good education. During the Wave, Brian becomes completely immersed in the project, the slogans, and the "group", which permeate his life both in school and on the football field. He embraces the "group" mentality and uses it against other students and involves himself in the warnings to Laurie to stop her negative articles. After the rally, Brian is visibly uncomfortable, and we can hope that he realized the negative aspects of the experiment and applied the lessons it taught.
