How did Mr.Ross feeling about the wave and his role in it change throughout the novel?

Mr. Ross begins his social experiment in earnest but gets carried away with the excitement. Eventually Mr. Ross sees what his experiment is doing to the school population. He decides he has gone too far and ends the experiment.
