I'm still confused, like is there no murderer or was the 4 identity guy was the murderer or unless, there wasn't a murderer.

Actually there wasn't a killer... As it turns out that Sam Westing faked his own death and disguised himself as (Sandy) McSoutherns , Barney Northrup and Julian Eastman.
