How does the women develop her personal integrity in the story?

By the end of the story, the narrator is creeping around the room in which she is confined. She walks over the collapsed body of her husband whose 'rest cure' remedy for her post-natal depression has sent her mad. However, in her madness, she refers to the release of the woman in the wallpaper; a trapped image she perceived in the grotesque wallpaper which she studies due to a lack of other stimulation. She survives the incarceration, though mentally damaged, and retains her imagination and creativity, though distorted by the effect of the restrictions placed upon her. The narrator is physically free at theend of the story, and has proved that the rest cure is dangerously ineffective. Her sense of self is distorted, but still evident.
