In the introduction of the story, anorexia and bulima are mentioned. How can we make the connection between these illnesses of today and The Yellow Wallpaper?

I believe the connection would be found in obsession. Eating disorders are obsessions... the narrator's constant scrutiny of the wallpaper is an obsession. In relation to illnesses today, eating disorders haven't changed, they just seem to have become more prevalent.... possibly it is the greater awareness of our society.
