In what ways is the narrator conscious of contrary or differing opinions about the wallpaper?

Any person with remotely artistic eye would have been able to appreciate how hideous the wallpaper is. I do not think the narrator's husband or really anyone else in the story noticed how horrible this wallpaper looked.
