What are the narrator’s feelings toward her husband? Why does the narrator say his profession is "perhaps . . . one reason I do not get well faster”?

It is obvious throughout the story that our narrator tries to be a loving and obedient wife. She defers to her husband, but she also becomes frustrated that he will not listen to her...... that he treats her like a sick child, possibly a reference to his profession. Notably, the narrator even tells us that the reason she isn't improving is because her husband is a phsician. She's beaten before she starts.
If a physician of high standing and one's own husband, assures friends and relatives that there is really nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression--a slight hysterical tendency--what is one to do?
