I’m finished

I think the murder of Eli in the last scene of the movie has everything to do with vengeance. Daniel's only outlet for his pent- up fury, for his self-loathing, for his sea of guilt is the killing of Elie. Does Elie's murder make Daniel feel better? Probably not, but murdering Elie is the only place Daniel has left to go on his way to his own personal Hell. On a personal note, this is truly a masterpiece of cinema.
