Did Okonkwo waste his life in Exile? Explain

Okonkwo really had no choice in exile. He had to spend his time plotting what he would do on his return. I don't think he wasted his time, there was not much he could do. Unfortunately the white Europeans had torn the fabric of Igbo culture by the time he had returned.
