Things Fall Apart
okonkwo's tragedy does not only result from the fact that he fails to understand nwoye's needs but also because he fails to comprehendsome of the clans value? 500 words
lack of understanding his son and even the clan
lack of understanding his son and even the clan
THis would take at least five hundred words. I'll try to sum this up with a main idea. Okonkwo is blinded by his own sense of "masculinity", power and stature. He constantly overcompensates for his father's weaknesses. For these reasons, Okonkwo fails to see the feminine in anything and if he does, like in Nwoye, he seeks to stamp it out. The feminine is part of human nature in both genders and incorporated into the Igbo culture. Okonkwo refuses to acknowledge this. His very narrow view of clan life and human nature leads to his own undoing.
