What characteristics are considered distinctly masculine and distinctly feminine? Do such stereotypes hold true in the actions of the actual characters?

Violence, anger, power, hunting, war....are all masculine qualities.

Empathy, sympathy, crying or display of emotion....are all considered womanly.

I think the males, much like society today, hold what they consider feminine inside. They try to compensate for their emotions by being overtly masculine.
