Why do the egwugwu destroy the church but not Reverend Smith? Again how does this demonstrate the central values of the Igbo that Okonkwo seems not to understand?

The egwugwu know that killing is not worth it. Lilling a white man or a Christian would go against their values and get them in trouble. Okonkwo does not seem to understand discretion or moderation when dealing with enemies.
