Why does Okonkwo dress to go with the men who are taking Ikemefuna instead of staying removed from the business as he is told?

Okonkwo is afraid of looking weak. If he stays behind, it might represent his inability to overcome his personal relationship with Ikemefuna and fulfill the Oracle's death wish.
