Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)

Did the writer sleep well after supper? Why not? How did he find the night when he walked to the river bank?

I believe you are referring to chapter 10. Jerome doesn't sleep well, "We turned in at ten that night, and I thought I should sleep well, being tired; but I didn't." Jerome finds the night wondrous, soothing, and enchanting when he walks the riverbank.
