The narrator and his cousin were out on the river, and his cousin expected to be back by a specific time (dinner). Once they reached a familiar lock, they were happy they'd be right on time, after which, J pulls out a map.... his biggest mistake. As the two make their way to what they believe is the proper lock for landing, they spend an inordinate amount of time looking for it. As more and more time passes, they come to learn the map was wrong, and they had passed their destination long before.
