What did the writer feel about his own and his friends behavious when herr boschem sang ? Is there any lesson for us in it?

The writer was totally ashamed and embarrassed at their behavior. The lesson, don't laugh at something because someone tells you too...... especially when you have no idea whether it is funny or not.
