At what point in the story are you sure of the outcome?

I was pretty sure the guy was done for when his third fire was extinguished by the snow. His fingers were barely mobile getting that one going. He did not have ample time to circulate his blood before the fire was extinguished by the snow. Another fire was near impossible to get started; his fingers were just not working.
