How do you introduce Jack London?

Jack London was all about "naturalism". THat is man's connection with the elements. He wrote about man knowing and respecting his place amidst the unforgiving majesty of nature. London never really outright said that women have no place travelling through frigid Yukon temperatures but there is a decided lack of women in his stories. If they are there, like in say White Fang, they are peripheral characters content with the comforts of civilization. So is London biased against women? I'm not sure. Simply leaving them out of his nature/human context certainly seems to say something.
