How has analyzing different perspectives -the narrator's, the main character's, the dog's, and your own as a reader- helped you gain meaning from this story?

The narrator gives us information as to how things really were. The man illustrates the dangers of pride in man. The dog illustrates the need to follow instinct, as opposed to often times pride of reason and feelings that we are indestructible.
