Is it a satisfactory outcome? Why or why not?

Yes, I have to say that the man was a bit of a jerk. Most people like to see overconfident people put in their place but when the man is mean to his dog, he needs to pay! The man tempts fate throughout the story. There were numerous times when I was thinking that he should stop and make camp. Short of actually talking, the dog even tried to warn the man. He kind of had it coming but when he tried to kill his dog and make him into a sleeping bag; it was time for the man to turn into a Popsicle.
