Which ending was more successful? and why?
Which ending was more successful? and why?
I like the ending of To Build a Fire better. We follow the man and see his hubris in the face of nature. Both are uncompromising but, of course, nature will always win. The conflict of To build a Fire builds and the reader gets to see each step of it. In After Twenty Years, there is twist at the end of the story. After Twenty Years is a morality tale as opposed to London's story which is a survival tale. I prefer the latter.
