What is the exposition of the story?

The exposition of the story is the introduction..... we meet the man, learn where he is heading..... what he is warned about, and what preparations he's made. We also learn the the man is "without imagination", meaning he cannot comprehend the realities of his journey because he is inexperienced, and that he is prideful and unwilling to listen to the advice of those who do have experience.
