The dog is guided by instinct and the man is guided by a sense of arrogance. The man treats the dog as he treats nature. He lacks respect for both. He is rather a jerk to the dog and really what's the point to that? In the end the dog has no affinity to this guy. The man dies and the dog finally moves on.
