I remember first reading this book in grade 10 and thinking, that I wanted to be like this guy some day. Of course, I have fallen short so many times but I still aspire to at least keep his personality close to me. I know Atticus is fictional but he somehow became the high bar in what millions of people strive for. His parenting abilities are part of what makes him special. He treats Scout and Jem with respect. He gives them the credit they deserve. He lets them make mistakes yet is there to advise them should they stumble. Atticus shows by example what it means to be a good human being. No, I can't criticize his parenting style.
