When Atticus stands in Bob Ewell's shoes, why does he feel sorry fpr Ewell?
He feels sorry for Ewell, and yet he also underestimates him. Atticus misjudges the anger and ability for violence in the other man, honestly believing that Ewell won't hurt him.
