Somewhere, I had received the impression that Fine Folks were people who did the best they could with the sense they had, but Aunt Alexandra was of the opinion, obliquely expressed, that the longer a family had been squatting on one patch of land the finer it was.

From the text above, we can infer that Aunt Alexandra defined "fine folk" by their lineage.... family history. As you can see, Scout was of the opinion that "fine folks" was defined as people doing the best they could with whatever they were given. Their opinions differ greatly.
