Discuss the concept of fear as presented in the novel. Compare the children's early fear of Boo Radley to their fear or lack thereof when Bob Ewell attacks them. Is Scout correct in stating that real fear can only be found in books?

Fear comes largely through stories, ignorance, and humor in the book. The childish stories about Boo Radley initially amuse the children but dissipate as the children mature. Fear of race also permeates this book. By the end Scout learns that the fear she once had was the stuff of fiction.
