How does the word hypocrisy link to characters and events in the novel?

The Missionary Club is hypocritical because they care more about the blacks in another country than the blacks living in their community.

The jury in Tom Robinson's trial are axamples of hypocrisy because they convict a man because of the color of his skin, knowing he was innocent of the crime.

Lastly, we have Mrs. Gate's lesson on Hitler and the evils of persecution, only to add, “Over here we don’t believe in persecuting anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudiced”. I guess she hasn't noticed the segregation, poor housing, or unequal treatment of the black community in Maycomb.
