I need help w/ thesis statement -To Kill a Mockingbird

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me come up with a good thesis statement -

This is the statement I have but I cannot use it I need my " own". (My topic of course is the relationship between events in to Kill a Mockingbird and the authors life.)

'Harper Lee relied upon her childhood memories to create a novel which challenges her reader to critically examine events in US history and society."

Anyone with a decent suggestion?
