in chapter 16, what did Jem and Scout find out about Atticus's case? Why was the community upset?
In Chapter Sixteen, Jem and Scout find out their father is defending Tom Robinson, a black man, against accusation of rape. The majority of the community was outspokenly upset. Many of them maligned Atticus for his participation, and many residents took it out on his children.
