To Kill A Mockingbird -- Chapters 8-11

Compare Atticus's decision to represent Tom Robinson with Mrs. Dubose's decision to kick her morphine habit before her death. In what ways are their convictions similar? In what ways are they different? Are they both courageous?

Both Mrs. Dubose and Atticus are courageous. In essence, they both want to do the right thing, and they want to be remembered for their integrity. They are both proud, and they are both committed to doing the right thing..... no matter the cost.
