What is the “near libel” which Jem puts in the front yard? How do Miss Maudie and Atticus react to it?

It is a snowman that Jem and Scout made in the front yard. Miss Maudie and Atticus think that it looks like Mr. Avery. THey tell the children to change the look of the snowman.
