why does he recieves these gifts?
Atticus receives gifts of food after the trial in Chapter 22. These gifts are from the black community, gateful fo Atticus giving Tom the dignity of a trial that is about as fair as the law would allow at that time. As a poor community, the gifts of food are rich indeed.
